The poem tells a story about women loving men when they are wounded in a famous place in war and having medals because that makes them heroes. Men tell stories about the danger and death which they like. They can't believe British troops leave when what is actually I'm port ant is the terrible things they did. At the end it tells it from a German perspective which is the same because while a mother is knitting for her son he is already dead.
The meaning of the poem is the ignorance women have for war because while they are in their peaceful home men are fighting and dying and they only care if they look like heroes.
Some powerful images are "when we're heroes" because its how's how superficial women are, also "You worship decorations" because it shows how obsessive were their desires for a heroe.
Other powerful images are "hell's last horror" because it express how terrible war is and "German mother dreaming by the fire" shows that is only American women, it is also all over the world.
I think this is a really good poem because it tells the truth about women in the war and the glory they want men to have so they can brag about it. I also like it because it have stron and powerful imagery and because it also shows another view which makes it more interesting.
